This was Holly's first year to be involved with Valentine's Day and I wanted to start her off on the right foot. I told her Valentine's Day was a special day when we tell our family that we love them. We got a little red mailbox for putting Valentine cards in, and for the first two weeks of February, Adam or I would make a Valentine for her and leave it in the box each morning. Occasionally it would be a little candy or gift, but mostly cards. Once she opened the first one, she wanted to make Valentine's for us every day too. Here are some of the Valentines that Adam made for her, which included her favorite characters.

Holly wanted to make a Valentine for everyone in the family, but the only ones that made it into the mail were to Pooch, Em, Noah and Grandma and Grandpa. They all sent her Valentines in return, and even Uncle Alex made Holly a special Valentine this year.
On the morning of Valentine's Day, we made the traditional cherry turnovers and Holly got a Puppy Party DVD, heart-shaped sunglasses, pink flip-flops, and a bouquet of heart-shaped suckers. I made Adam a Valentine with a letter inside a brown paper heart pouch sewn together with pink yarn, and Adam got me the Fellowship of the Ring soundtrack. We had heart-shaped calzones for dinner and red jello hearts. It was a fun Valentine's season, and Holly was so sad when we put all the decorations and mailbox away until next year.
